William “Bill” D. Canupp July 1, 1930-February 2, 2006
William “Wild Bill” Canupp, age 75, of Bellview, Florida and LaSalle, Michigan died at his home in Bellview on Thursday, February 2, 2006. He had been in declining health. Friends may call from 12-8pm, Monday, February 6, 2006 at the Monroe location of Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00am with a friend of the family Bobby Mack officiating. Burial will follow in LaSalle Township Cemetery. Graveside services will be under the Auspices of Monroe VFW Post 1138. He was born July 1, 1930 in Athens, Tennessee the son of Amos David and Elizabeth (Hafley) Canupp. He married Edith L. Rodgers on May 1, 1949 in Dalton, Georgia. Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and had been stationed in the South Pacific during the testing of the atomic bomb. He was a truck driver for more than thirty years, and had hauled steel for Highway Express for many years from Detroit to Cleveland. He is survived by his wife: Edith; three sons: David (Bonnie) of Monroe, Darrell (Theresa) of Ida, and Kenneth (Mona) of Belleville; two daughters: Dianna Canupp and Lisa (Steve) Cilley both of Monroe; two sisters: Alice Martin of Camden, TN and Iva (Jimmy) Shell of Athens, TN; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a half brother and sister-in-law Jim (Vernnie) Yates; and a brother-in-law Glen Martin. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Monroe or Mercy Memorial Hospice.
