Obituary: Glenn is survived by his parents Oval & Hilda Carder. He is also survived by 6 brothers; Steven (Marilyn) Carder, Robert (Michelle) Carder, James (Linda) Carder, Thomas (Cynthia) Carder, Rick (Cindy) Carder, Mike (Antoinette) Carder and one sister Robin (Richard) Schmidt.

50 YEARS - WHAT A CELEBRATION!!!

Here are a few images from the 50 Year Anniverary of Oval and Hilda Carder

Married on December 20, 1956!

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times!" Robert commented as the celebration began. Many positive comments of gratitude and celebration were shared by all in attendance. What a grand celebration!

Every one of the children were present to share this surprise anniversary.

Robin, our only sister and Mike our youngest brother planned the grand surprise event.

Their efforts were greatly appreciated as they schemed to keep this a secret from Mom and Dad as well as getting them to the banquet hall without giving anything away!

William “Bill” D. Canupp July 1, 1930-February 2, 2006
William “Wild Bill” Canupp, age 75, of Bellview, Florida and LaSalle, Michigan died at his home in Bellview on Thursday, February 2, 2006. He had been in declining health. Friends may call from 12-8pm, Monday, February 6, 2006 at the Monroe location of Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00am with a friend of the family Bobby Mack officiating. Burial will follow in LaSalle Township Cemetery. Graveside services will be under the Auspices of Monroe VFW Post 1138. He was born July 1, 1930 in Athens, Tennessee the son of Amos David and Elizabeth (Hafley) Canupp. He married Edith L. Rodgers on May 1, 1949 in Dalton, Georgia. Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and had been stationed in the South Pacific during the testing of the atomic bomb. He was a truck driver for more than thirty years, and had hauled steel for Highway Express for many years from Detroit to Cleveland. He is survived by his wife: Edith; three sons: David (Bonnie) of Monroe, Darrell (Theresa) of Ida, and Kenneth (Mona) of Belleville; two daughters: Dianna Canupp and Lisa (Steve) Cilley both of Monroe; two sisters: Alice Martin of Camden, TN and Iva (Jimmy) Shell of Athens, TN; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a half brother and sister-in-law Jim (Vernnie) Yates; and a brother-in-law Glen Martin. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Monroe or Mercy Memorial Hospice.

COMMON FOLK

The pride of common folk is profound! Growing up in a small home with seven other siblings and sharing one bathroom had its challenges, especially in the mornings. Our family were pretty plain people. We were the common folk in those days. We shared everything - some more than others. I remember the hand-me-down clothes. Fortunately for me, by the time I got them (being 2nd from the youngest) the style of clothes was on a come-back. Growing up with limited means had its challenges but as I reflect upon this I can take pride in being common folk.

I am sure that as simblings we each have different experiences and stories. Not all of our experiences were positive. Our parents worked hard and did the best they could. As I reflect upon my father and mother's influence in my life I am thankful for their sacrifice in providing us with what we needed. Their influence is a part of my life today. While just the other day I caught myself thinking, "I sound just like dad!"

Remembering and valuing my growing up days is a celebrated activity. I am so thankful for the value I learned about sharing. I am thankful for the value of my faith, instilled by my parents and church. I am thankful for the fun I had. I am thankful for the soul-mending experiences God has given me. Life is enriched because of what I now know and what I experienced as a child.
